Simple Electric Circuit Examples With Solutions

By | January 7, 2023

The basic electric circuit is one of the most essential building blocks of modern life. Every day, we rely on electricity to power our homes and businesses, and thus it’s important to understand the fundamentals of electricity.

One of the best ways to gain a better understanding of electrical circuits is to examine some of the basic electric circuit examples with solutions. Here, we’ll take a look at several simple electric circuit examples and explain the workings behind them.

Let’s start by taking a look at a basic direct-current (DC) circuit. This type of circuit uses a battery to supply power to the circuit elements, which can include resistors, capacitors, and transistors. In this example, the battery supplies power to a resistor. As current flows through the resistor, the voltage drops across it, creating a voltage difference. This difference is what powers the other elements in the circuit.

In this example, the power supplied by the battery is regulated by the resistor, ensuring that the full voltage given by the battery is not used. This is important when dealing with delicate components like transistors, as too much power could damage them. In order to regulate the power, the resistor must provide enough resistance to limit the current flowing through it.

Now, let’s take a look at an alternating-current (AC) circuit. This type of circuit is slightly more complex than a DC circuit, as it requires the use of a transformer. The transformer is used to switch the voltage from one level to the other. When current passes through the primary coil of the transformer, the voltage level is changed. This new voltage is then sent to the secondary coil, which then powers the components of the circuit.

Finally, let’s look at an example of a switching circuit, which involves the use of transistors. Transistors are used to control the flow of current, and they can be used to create logic gates, which are commonly used in digital circuits.

In this example, the transistor acts as a switch, allowing or blocking current flow depending on the applied Voltages. The transistor will act as an open switch if the applied voltage is lower than the threshold voltage. On the other hand, if the applied voltage is higher than the threshold voltage, the transistor will act as a closed switch, allowing the current to flow.

These are just a few of the simple electric circuit examples with solutions. With a better understanding of these basic electric circuits, you’ll be better equipped to tackle more complicated projects.
